The GX has a number of safety upgrades this year that include a roll-sensing feature for the side-curtain airbags, a tire-pressure monitoring system and an optional rear backup camera system (for those vehicles with the navigation system installed). An optional Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System will be available as a late-year addition.
- Luxurious cabin furnishings, plush ride quality, fine road manners, smooth drivetrain, plenty of off-road ability should you need it.
- Very tight quarters in optional third-row seat, limited rearward visibility, modest top-end horsepower.

LOVE IT! - 2004 Lexus GX 470
By H - January 27 - 10:00 amThis suv is great! I have had numberous suvs. This only drives very nicely, has a great interior and is VERY quite. The automobile does NOT drive like a truck. Fuel is not bad, I fill my tank once a week. I drive a lot with two kids. There was difference in gas milage from my old mini van. The Lexus GX 470 is WONDERFUL!

By abusymom - January 27 - 10:00 amThe good use of interior space makes this car as big as my old Expedition was. It handles very nicely. None of the rattles and truck like ride I had with other SUVs is present in this car. It is missing power rear windows, and sometimes on left turns there is a bit of a blind spot. Overall, Id have to say I love the car - and I get 16 miles per gallon, which is not too bad for an SUV.

A Lexus needing just a little bit more - 2004 Lexus GX 470
By Lexus470 - November 14 - 10:00 amThe vehicle is a Lexus. Smooth ride plus. The rear door is trully uncomfortable and there have been several issue with service, that, until this date, with 5 months of experience with the truck, still has not been corrected. It rides like a car but moves like a truck and there have been no off road limitations on hand. It was a newly designed truck, but it looks like they hurried it to the production line. Styling could have been better, but we will take it.

By Doug - October 17 - 8:36 amI am a car nut and really critical of everything I drive and I have had most every car on the market. I bought this GX with 94K, it now has 125K. I cannot believe this vehicle was any smoother or ran any better when new. Awesome vehicle! Not one problem of any kind.

Room For Improvement - 2004 Lexus GX 470
By Socal GX470 - July 14 - 2:00 amThis is our 3rd Lexus so you know we love the product. Overall we are very pleased with the GX, but as with any new product line there is room for improvement. Gas milage is pretty bad at 13-14 mpg, but we knwe that before buying. The center console could be better thought out to include cell phone storage compartment. The third row seat would be better served if it was automated like the Expedition.

I purchased a 2003 GX470 the first week that they were available in December of 2002. I recently traded that one in for a 2004 model. The ride is wonderful and the Nav/sound/ and entertainment systems make the long family trips easy while the ride is smoother than our Acura TL sedan. The biggest surprise is how much room they have. Where does it come from?

Loving it in LA - 2004 Lexus GX 470

I bought this vehicle for me but have only driven it once in more than one week. My wife just would not let go. This car comes fully loaded at less price than a comparable ML500.

New GTX - 2004 Lexus GX 470
By GTX-SB - April 2 - 10:00 amGreat vehicle. I found the comfort suspension setting a bit stiff on my bumpy city streets at slow speeds, fine on country roads at more speed and the nornal or sport settings fine at highway speeds. Everything else is pure pleasure.
